About

What Jyoga is
Jyoga is a small, Melbourne-based, Australian-owned yoga business. We are not a traditional yoga studio. We organise yoga workshops and events across Melbourne. We create space for people who otherwise might not feel welcome in yoga. We move between spaces, communities and suburbs. We focus on yoga experiences and positive change for those who don’t fit the mould.
What the brand means
The voice we stand for: I’m the bruised, bold, beautiful misfit of yoga. I don’t have a perfect body. I can’t do pretzel poses. And I don’t have to prove anything to anyone. For me, every moment on the mat is a quiet rebellion against my own self-doubt. Effort is all that matters. Not being perfect. Every stretch, every breath reminds me: I’m still becoming. I’m not done yet.
What the wings mean
The wide open wings represent freedom, space, choice and permission. Permission to come as you are, to do what you can and to go at your own pace. The different colours in the wings represent people with different bodies and different journeys in life. People with larger bodies, ageing bodies, recovering from injury, returning after setbacks and men who feel yoga isn’t for them. LGBTQ+ communities belong here too.
What the slogan means
“Do what you can” means that we honour effort over perfection. It is inspired by Theodore Roosevelt who wrote in 1920 about courage and effort in everyday life and to choose action even when conditions aren’t ideal. He said “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
